How does the hardware analysis work?
RateMyComputer separates verified specifications, external benchmark evidence, calculated estimates and editorial recommendations. This makes clear which statements are measured, derived or advisory.
1. Hardware identification
Exact model names, variants and platform details are normalized before analysis. Ambiguous input is marked as uncertain rather than silently assigned to a different product.
2. Specifications
Technical specifications are checked against manufacturer documentation and reputable hardware databases. Values with conflicting sources are not presented as verified facts.
3. Performance estimates
FPS ranges are directional estimates synthesized from public benchmark evidence. They are not measurements from one fixed test bench and vary by game, settings, drivers, cooling and memory configuration.
4. Bottleneck assessment
CPU, GPU, memory, power delivery, cooling and platform limits are assessed together. The limiting component can change with resolution, workload and target frame rate.
5. Upgrade recommendations
Recommendations prioritize compatibility, measurable benefit and system balance. Affiliate availability does not determine the technical verdict.
6. AI and review
AI supports research and structured evaluation. Important compatibility details should still be verified against current manufacturer documentation before a purchase or installation.
